Zain Mehmood wins Cholistan Jeep Rally

462km race completed in 3 hours and 51 minutes

BAHAWALPUR: On Sunday, the 19th Cholistan Jeep Rally crowned Zain Mehmood and his co-driver Zain Abdullah the new “Sultans.” First place was theirs after the pair finished the rally in 3 hours and 51 minutes.

The biggest motorsport event in South Asia, the Cholistan Jeep Rally, saw Bahawalpur’s Zain Mehmood and his co-driver, Muhammad Zain Abdullah, finish first in the 462 km A class race in 3 hours and 51 minutes. Mir Jafar Magsi finished in second place with a time of 4 hours and 6 minutes. Sahibzada Sultan, in the same direction, finished third after traveling the distance in 4 hours and 9 minutes. Due to an accident with his car on the first day of the race, Magsi, who was in second place, had to withdraw.

Asad Shadikhel won the B category race, followed by Gohar Sangi in second and Irfan in third. In the C category, Babridge placed first, followed by Falak Sher in second place; in the D category, Zafar Baloch placed first, Taj Khan placed second, and Umar Iqbal placed third. In the women’s division, Maham placed first, Dina placed second, and Lalain placed third.

Activities celebrating the jeep rally included a wrestling match between the Bahawalpur Division Team and the Faisabad Division Team at Dilwash Stadium in addition to the race. The Sports Department, along with the offices of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Bahawalpur, jointly organized these events.

At Dilwash Stadium, the wrestling match set the teams from the Bahawalpur and Faisalabad divisions against one another. With 36 points, Bahawalpur emerged victorious in the match, while the Faisalabad Division Team finished in second place with 34 points.
